urbanest was delighted to welcome colleagues from across the business for open site tours at our Canary Wharf scheme.

An opportunity for attendees to engage with and have visibility across different business functions, colleagues from various teams joined together for an up-close look at this incredible development.

Hosted by urbanest Technical Director Martin Rymer, the tours started with an introductory talk about the project before a trip up to the 45th floor of Tower 2 to see the remarkable 360-degree views of London. This moment really reflected the scale of what urbanest is achieving in this project – the biggest student accommodation building in the world that is built to Passivhaus standards.

After topping out in May 2025, the project remains on track for delivery in 2026.

The scheme, built for students at University College London (UCL), is also targeting BREEAM Outstanding, with the development designed by Apt Architects to ensure the comfort and wellbeing of all residents. Whole house ventilation and air conditioning will allow heating and cooling for each individual room.

Our tour groups had the opportunity to look around the elevated skybridge, which connects the two student towers at the tenth floor. Offering exceptional amenities, this space will include a gym, yoga studio, cinema, study space and games rooms.

After that the groups checked in on various complete, or near complete rooms, including Studio, Ensuite and Private room types, as well as the residential flats in Tower 1

Part of our ongoing commitment to enhancing engagement, the tours gave colleagues from different departments the chance to connect with and gain a deeper insight into the wider urbanest business model, and the process that goes into constructing some of the world’s most sustainable student accommodation.

It was great to share in the excitement of what we are building together, and we can’t wait to start welcoming UCL residents through the doors!
