Our very first community in Hoxton opened its doors in 2010. urbanest Hoxton is a mixed-use development, offering 220 student rooms arranged into studio apartments with retail and commercial space at ground level and a roof terrace offering exceptional views of the City. At the time, this widely-acclaimed, copper-clad scheme, with interior design by Tara Bernard was the first purpose-built student accommodation development in the UK to secure a BREEAM Excellent rating.
It was both sustainable and energy efficient with the efficient building fabric achieving high levels of thermal insulation and 20 percent on-site renewable energy generation by a biomass boiler, with each studio employing a heat recovery ventilation system. The high efficiency building fabric and services resulted in a 43% improvement over building regulation standards at the time.
In addition, the green roof and terrace planting ensured biodiversity on site and benefit from an advanced water saving irrigation system.
