urbanest King’s Cross is ideally located close to the shops and restaurants of Coal Drops Yard and Granary Square, with easy access to the rest of London and Europe via the major transport hub at King’s Cross and St Pancras International.
This award-winning landmark community opened in 2013 and consists of a single 27-story tower with an adjoining 14-story shoulder block, all accessed through a south-facing courtyard containing a significant piece of public art acknowledging the site’s industrial past. Clad in stone and dark bronze, it is the tallest building on the regeneration masterplan of King’s Cross and is now home to 669 students.
The student bedrooms are arranged in clusters and self-contained studios across nearly 20,000 square metres. A double-height reception is adjacent to a café area that also creates an active frontage to York Way. Further social and study spaces and terraces top the shoulder block and roof of the tower with unparalleled views across the capital.

The development had its challenges largely due to the proximity of the Channel Tunnel Railway Line (CTRL) on the northern boundary of the site. This was an added constraint for the project and resulted in a monorail being constructed for the installation of the façade panels on the north elevation immediately adjacent to the boundary fence of the CTRL.
