From the start of the Battersea project, urbanest challenged the design team to create something special. A local landmark of quality.
The challenge in design terms was to create an intelligent mixed-use urban development with long term flexibility that provided real benefit to the local community. Passivhaus was the added layer that ensured responsible development.
Clearly, the time is right for a development such as this, given environmental needs and local and student attitudes, but the challenge was to take a proven concept of sustainable residential development and scale it up to an 850 bed mixed use development.
