urbanest Victoria welcomed its first residents in 2019. Now home to 174 students, it represented a departure from our usual development model, being our first refurbishment project.
An Unlisted Building of Merit within the Westminster Cathedral Conservation Area, this elegant Victorian mansion block was occupied by nurses during World War Two and has subsequently been a hotel as well as student accommodation.
Our refurbishment was extensive and completed in only a year. The entire building was stripped back to its structural elements, new raised acoustic floors and partitions were constructed along with full building services. The beautiful late Victorian façade was left unchanged although all windows were replaced.
84-99 Thirleby Road was transformed into beautifully appointed student accommodation, with bespoke interior design ensuring that the elegant bedrooms, common areas and library were sympathetically blended the original Victorian features with contemporary functionality and clever use of light and space.
