Volunteers’ Week: Supporting Our Community Through Action
At urbanest, we’re proud to partner with The Connection at St Martin-in-the-Fields, a local charity based in Central London.
The Connection work to support people sleeping rough to move away from, and stay off, the streets of London. This includes offering meals and essential services, as well as pathways towards longer-term recovery. In addition to providing free breakfast and lunch to rough sleepers, The Connection’s day centre provides showers, and facilities to wash clothes, alongside art and music therapy rooms and provide donated clothes that can be used for attending interviews and keeping warm.
Volunteers’ Week
Recently, members of our team spent time volunteering with The Connection, helping to serve breakfast and lunch to those accessing support. A small contribution, but a powerful reminder of the importance of community and human connection.

Our partnership with The Connection reflects a shared commitment to supporting the communities we operate in. By working together, we’re proud to contribute in a practical way, supporting their ongoing efforts while creating opportunities for colleagues at urbanest to engage directly with the impact of their work.
Over the past year, we’ve already been working closely with The Connection to donate items that would have otherwise ended up in landfill. This includes donations from urbanest residents during our Turnaround period such as toiletries and kitchen products, unopened sanitary products, quality clothing, and arts & crafts materials.
This Volunteers’ Week, we’re delighted to highlight the ways in which we can support to strengthen local communities, and we look forward to continuing to work closely with The Connection with further volunteering moments as the year progresses.
“We’ve loved working with Urbanest and we’re so excited to make our partnership official, we look forward to welcoming their team to our day centre to serve food to the people we support this year. Volunteers play an essential part in delivering our service and we wouldn’t be able to keep our doors open without wonderful partners like Urbanest. But food at the Connection is so much more than a meal, it can be the first step in someone’s recovery off the streets. Having a chat over a cup of tea or hot meal is a vital opportunity for us to listen, build trust and discover what someone needs next. We are grateful for Urbanest’s contribution to this journey.”
